Mark Sousa Car Accident: A 44-year-old father killed in a Waterbury, CT, accident has been identified as Mark Sousa. The dedicated father passed away in the deadly car crash few days before his 45th birthday. The tragic incident happened on Friday, 19 July, 2024.

Who Was Mark Sousa?

Mark Joseph Sousa, 44, of Waterbury, Connecticut, was born in Waterbury on July 22, 1979. He was the son of Amandio and Maria Olimpia (Silva) Sousa. Mark worked for Amandio Sousa Paving until 2022, when he joined the Local 611 Union, working for Bancker Construction in Long Island, NY. He also worked for many years in the auto industry with his cousin at J & F Auto in Waterbury.

Mark was a devoted Catholic, he was a parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Church, as well as a longtime member of the Waterbury Portuguese Sports Club. Mark J. Sousa was a “Beloved father, son, and a dedicated brother.”

My dear parishioners, this has to be one of the most difficult posts I have ever had to do. I have little words of comfort as I am still in shock. This unfathomable tragic passing has affected our whole community, both sides of the family are huge and so many are known to us and like family. To Amandio, Maria Olimpia Sousa, Daniel Sousa, Michael, Marks daughters, and the rest of the family and friends, my most heartfelt condolences and prayers.

As a community, we mourn Mark, especially today on his 44th birthday! We pray for his loved ones, that God gives them comfort and peace. That the memories last forever in their hearts. We pray that God receives Mark with open arms and he rests easily in eternal peace. Mark, watch your family from above, especially your little ones, Isabel Izy Monteiro.

Mark Sousa Obituary and Funeral Arrangements

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, July 25, 2024, at 11:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Church in Waterbury. Burial will follow at All Saints Cemetery in Waterbury. Calling hours for Mark will be held Thursday morning prior to the Mass from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. at Chase Parkway Memorial, The Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway, Waterbury.
