Camille Przewodek Obituary and Funeral Arrangements
This is Erin, Camille’s daughter, posting an update about her health journey on her behalf: My gorgeous, beloved, vibrant mother’s spirit left her body yesterday at 77 years young with me, her granddaughter, my partner, and my dad, her husband of 40 years holding her hand. We will continue posting on her Instagram to uphold her legacy and contributions to the art world.
We also want to let people know we will be organizing a celebration of life ceremony, stay tuned for details on that. My mom was inspired first and foremost by the beauty of nature, and we are so grateful to share that her body will be composted and turned back into the soil that sustains all of the life around her and nourishes her spirit. She left the world quickly and her family and loved ones are still grieving. We appreciate all the love you have and continue to show for this incredible woman, who is now, the light that she so loved.
AIS Mourns the Loss of AIS Master Camille Przewodek “It is with great sadness that we share with you the loss last night of AIS Master Camille Przewodek, a master impressionist painter, teacher, mentor, and friend to so many of our members. Camille embodied everything that the American Impressionist Society is all about.”
Who Was Camille Przewodek?
Camille studied painting with master colorist Henry Hensche at the Cape School of Art in Provincetown. In 1981, Henry Hensche [1901-1992] “opened my eyes” by introducing me to Monet’s impressionist tradition of seeing and painting color with the influence of light. Hensche, who had assisted famed American Impressionist Charles Hawthorne [1872-1930] at the Cape School of Art, changed the way I perceived shadows, which were no longer dark shapes but were filled with color., Camille wrote.
Camille served as an Awards Judge at AIS 3rd Annual Impressions: Small Works Showcase at the Crooked Tree Arts Center in Petoskey, Michigan in 2019. Camille taught a workshop, provided a painting demo, and was an inspiration to all. Camille was the winner of the PleinAir Salon art competition this year, which was one of her biggest goals.
