Playland Drowning: Horror as young boy fatally drowns at Rye Playland Pool in Rye, NY
Playland Drowning Investigations: Law enforcement agencies were called to the Rye Playland Pool in Rye, Westchester County, New York for a drowning accident Thursday. According to the reports, a young boy died after accidentally drowning inside the Rye Playland Pool on Thursday afternoon.
The deadly incident was described by responders as one of the multiple fatal accidents at the Playland, known as the National Historic Landmark located 20 miles northeast of the city. Ambulances and first responders were called to the scene on 1 Playland Pkwy, Rye, NY, following reports of an emergency.
According to the investigating department, a preliminary investigation revealed that the unidentified boy was swimming with a group of young poolgoers when he drowned. The boy was dragged out of the pool unconscious. Life-saving measures were applied, but, sadly, the boy passed away. Lifeguards on the scene attempted CPR until responders arrived at the location.
The parents of the young lad were seen wailing as the boy was being wheeled into an ambulance. The pool was closed for investigation. According to reports, at least seven people have died in the last twenty years at the pool. In 2019, Steven Weber died while proposing to his girlfriend, Kenesha Antoine. In 2005, a 7-year-old boy passed away in an accidental drowning at the same location.

A 7-year-old kid died on a water ride at Rye Playland amusement park, marking the second death in 15 months. The toddler boarded one of the 14 boats alone, but when “the boat came back, the boy was missing,” Spano stated. Park officials first regarded the incident as a missing child report and notified a Westchester County police officer.
The operator evacuated the vehicle so that it could be searched both inside and out. According to county Police Commissioner Tom Belfiore, the boy’s body was discovered in the water beneath the ride’s internal conveyor belts. It is unknown how long the search took.
