Neil Gillis Charlestown MA family mourns man who passed away 5 years ago today
Neil Gillis Charlestown MA Death: Charlestown native Neil E. Gillis Jr. unexpectedly departed this world and embraced everlasting life on Friday, August 2, 2019, at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. He was thirty-one years old. Neil E. Gillis and Barbara (Mancuso) Matson were the parents of Neil, who was born in Cambridge on November 20, 1987. He was raised in Charlestown, Massachusetts, and attended Charlestown High School before graduating from the Boston Public School system.
Neil did exceptionally well in the Charlestown Pop Warner and youth hockey leagues. Neil belonged to Carpenter’s Union Local # 328 and worked as an apprentice for the organization. He loved Boston sports as well. Barbara (Mancuso) Matson and Neil E. Gillis are the devoted parents of Neil. In addition to the late Anthony Matson, he is the loving brother of Lindsey Ruyevcan and her husband Dan, Barbie Gillis, Jillian Corbett, and her husband Ryan, Nicole Matson, Davey Matson, and Nicole Matson.
He has twelve nieces and nephews under his caring care. His numerous devoted aunts, uncles, cousins, and acquaintances also survive him. On Wednesday, August 7, 2019, at 9 a.m., Neil’s funeral from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown, is open to family and friends. His funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown. There will be no public funeral for him. On Tuesday, August 6, 2019, from 4 to 8 P.M., he will be available for visitation at the funeral home.
