Katya Fons Auburn, ME: Petty Officer Second Class at Maine U.S. Coast Guard has died, Ray Gagne mourns partner

Katya Fons Auburn, ME Death: Petty Officer Second Class Katya Fons from the Coast Guard Cutter Maple (WLB-207) has tragically passed away. The class 2018 graduate of the St. Dominic Regional High School died unexpectedly this week. The Eastport Auburn, ME resident was a caring and loving partner to Ray Gagne, of Maine.

Katya Fons was an athlete student during her days at the St. Dominic Regional High School. She was a resilient young woman who many admired and respected for her vivid love for the ocean. Katya spent most of her service days within the Aids to Navigation World in Portsmouth, Virginia. She was a sister, friend, teammate, and caring partner.

Katya Fons participated in several Buoy Tender Round-up events and activities which included the Survival Swim, Chain Pull, Spin & Hook, Tug-O-War, and the Heat and Beat. Katya Fons was on the Coast Guard Cutter Maple. She was a Boatswains mate, in the Deck department. In an interview, the proud Petty Officer Second Class shared that Round-up allows crews to compete, build camaraderie, and socialize with others who share their missions. Katya Fons was found dead following a tragic incident. No cause of death has been confirmed at this time. Katya Fons’s obituary and funeral arrangements will be released by the family.
