Jordan Leinen, of Calgary died, 17-year-old male injured in Vista Heights shooting

Jordan Leinen, of Calgary: Calgary Police Service identified the 19-year-old woman who died in the Vista Heights neighborhood shooting as Jordan Leinen, of Calgary. According to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, Jordan Leinen passed away in the deadly incident that occurred around 5:20 p.m.

At approx. 6 p.m., on Saturday, July 20, 2024, police were called to the Foothills Medical Centre, located at 1403 29 Street N.W., for reports of 2 victims who had arrived suffering from what appeared to be gunshot wounds. Upon arrival, 1 woman was declared deceased & a 17-year-old male was in serious condition. He has since been upgraded to a stable condition.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the victims were traveling westbound on the 32 Avenue N.E. overpass above Deerfoot Trail, in a white 2008 Acura MDX. It is believed an unknown vehicle(s) approached the Acura & fired several rounds into the vehicle injuring the 2 occupants before they attended the hospital. Investigators believe this was not a random incident, however, the target was not believed to be the homicide victim.

Jordan Leinen’s Obituary and funeral arrangements will be released by the family. Police continue to seek information from the public about this incident & are asking anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage from the area or who may have witnessed suspicious behavior around the time of the incident to come forward to police. This is Calgary’s 10th homicide of 2024.
