Memphis Suicide: Man jumps to death at Benjamin L. Hooks Central Library in Memphis, MI
Memphis Suicide Investigations: Law enforcement agencies say, the Benjamin L. Hooks Central Library will be shuttered until July 29 following an apparent suicide within the building Monday morning. All other Memphis Public Library branches will stay open. According to a source at Memphis Public Libraries, a man fell from the third-story balcony overlooking the lobby.
The Memphis Police Department confirmed that their investigation revealed that it was a suicide. Memphis Public Libraries: A situation at the Benjamin L. Hooks Central Library prompted branch closure this morning. This is a heartbreaking and tragic incident that speaks to the importance of mental health care in our community. The Benjamin L. Hooks Library will remain closed until Monday, July 29, so our library staff and community can process and have time to access mental health and wellness resources, including grief counselors.
All other Memphis Public Library branches will remain open to the public.
