According to CHP, the first two lanes of Interstate 80 are currently shut. Video received shows traffic backed up as a result of the fire.

At 11:30 a.m., the CHP reported that the enflamed automobile was “visibly engulfed,” blocking the first lane of I-80. Several minutes later, the CHP reported that the automobile had blocked the first two lanes. The San Francisco Fire Department said that workers arrived 15 minutes after noon and “quickly extinguished” the fire near the Harrison Street offramp. They stated that the fire in the car was “accidental/mechanical.”

The CHP reported no injuries. They did not provide an estimated time for the lanes to reopen and advised drivers to expect delays.
