Scott Masters Denver CO resident and Ice hockey coach died unexpectedly, children Amari and Ben mourns
Scott Masters Denver CO Death: Denver, Colorado resident and beloved father of two, Scott Michael Masters, passed away un unexpectedly on July 24th. Scott died suddenly after a medical emergency.
Scott Michael Masters was born on September 20, 1977, in Denver, Colorado, and attended school in Arvada, his hometown. Graduating from Arvada West High School and Colorado State University.
He is an avid sports fan, having participated in Arvada youth baseball, Arvada Hockey, A-West and Ft. Lewis College golf teams, and CSU Club Hockey. He also worked in public relations at the University of Massachusetts/Amherst before joining the NHL Florida Panthers. He became their first video coach and the NHL’s youngest.
During the strike, he returned to the University of Denver hockey team as a volunteer coach. He was hired by the St. Louis Blues and Colorado Avalanche before becoming a professional scout for the Montreal Canadiens. Scott served as video coach for the United States Men’s National Team at the 2013 Ice Hockey World Championship in Stockholm, Sweden, where they won gold.
He became a real estate broker while maintaining his commitment to sports and fitness, frequently appearing as a guest analyst on local sports media. His two accomplishments were raising funds for mental health awareness by completing his own “10k to 10k” challenge and jogging a 10k every day for 71 days to reach $10,000. The next year, in May, he took a million steps for the same cause.
He is survived by his children, Amari (Ryanne), 15, and Ben, 13. His parents were Bob and Kathy Masters, and he had a brother named Tyler (Christa), a nephew named Gabriel, and countless aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
